A Special Concert in Petaluma, CA for ME/CFS

Marian Call in concert in Petaluma, CA, Sat. Oct. 5th at 8pm. Click for tickets

I’m playing a concert this fall that means a great deal to me, and I hope you’ll join me up in glorious Petaluma, CA. This theater will be simply magical and it’s a truly worthy cause – it’s worth the drive north! (Facebook Event / Tickets)

I have friends and loved ones who have suffered from ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome). If you know someone who experiences chronic pain or fatigue too, I hope you will share the word about this event. If you’re far from Petaluma, you’re invited to DONATE to one of the respected research and advocacy organizations linked below.

The song “Anchorage” is a theme for this concert. If you’ve never read into the subtext of that song, it’s about experiencing fear and disease, reconciling with the body, and choosing mindfulness, awareness, and song in the face of pain.

ME/CFS afflicts nearly 2 million people in the United States; it can severely limit people’s abilities with chronic pain and exhaustion, yet funds for research are scarce and public awareness of the condition remains very low. As a part of this concert, brief talks will be given by speakers from three highly-regarded national ME/CFS organizations: Bateman Horne Center, Solve ME/CFS Initiative and Open Medicine Foundation.

Join me in Petaluma, or tell a friend in the Bay Area to be there. We’ll sing together through the night.

“Reel me in to the places we knew our own faces / over wine, over coffee and beer – / and anchor me, anchor me, anchor me, anchor me here.”

New Songs from the Patreon…

Ghost ships and sled dogs! Check the Patreon album for Marian’s newest material.

Patreon supporters and the Donors’ Circle are helping to usher new music and videos into the world. All Patreon content is free to watch and listen to (learn more at https://www.patreon.com/mariancall). So far over twenty new songs and films have been added to the playlist, with more coming out all the time.

The single “Resonance” is about Pluto and its five moons, dancing their own steps on the edge of the solar system. “Good Night Moon” is a song inspired by the 2017 solar eclipse. “The Piemaker” is a waltz about love and identity, drawn from the world of Pushing Daisies. “Time Traveler (she/her)” and “Time Traveler (they/them)” follow the evolution of possibilities for the latest Doctor. Stay tuned for more!

Mountainside Open Mic & Art Night

Hello friends – Marian here – I’m spending the whole winter in Juneau for the first time. It’s amazing to be in the place where I live for weeks on end! I’m writing and recording new music, doing some local theater, playing concerts online, and starting a new all ages Open Mic at the Rookery. I’d love to see you there!

Karaaaooooookeeeeee!

It takes a little love and harmony…

On April 21st, Marian presents a ridiculous live concert fundraiser event. It’s the ultimate request show: the Karaoke Jukebox Challenge. YOU choose the songs Marian sings, whether she knows them or not!  Update: the show is now finished and bids are closed, but you are still welcome to contribute to the spring fundraiser with a donation through ConcertWindow, Patreon, or Paypal.

Watch live online at https://www.concertwindow.com/mariancall on April 21st!

Fans have submitted 42 songs for your consideration, and Marian will sing the top 12-15 contenders. Bid on your favorites at https://paypal.me/mariancall by donating and mentioning the song title/s in the comments.

How does this show work? Fans  proposed songs for the Karaoke Jukebox Challenge. Bid on any listed song by donating at https://paypal.me/mariancall (any number of times, in any increment, and you can divide a single payment among multiple songs). On April 21st at 2pm PDT/5pm EDT the concert will begin, and the songs will be performed in order of their popularity – which can change during the show!

To bid and boost a song up the list, just visit Paypal.me/MarianCall, choose an amount that works for you, and include the song title in the comment field.

If you don’t want to use Paypal, you can tip directly at ConcertWindow.com and we will get in touch in the chat or email to clarify which songs you are bidding on. Questions? Read the fine print below.

The Fine Print

  1. Submit songs you want to hear at this Google form: https://goo.gl/forms/418peLidzJtUHjPz2. Once songs are approved they will appear on the master list above. You can bid on songs here anytime with donations through Paypal or ConcertWindow.
  2. Songs must be submitted by midnight on APRIL 19TH. Submit multiple songs if you want! But that will spread the votes thin, so think about what would actually be fun to see Marian perform.
  3. You may bid on as many songs as you like as often as you like by sending a tip to Paypal.me/MarianCall and specifying the song title/s in the comments, or by tipping at ConcertWindow. Feel free to rally friends and other fans to your song’s cause, on social media or in the concert chat.
  4. Marian will perform a short acoustic set on Concertwindow while the last few bids come in, then she will perform from the karaoke song list for about an hour (or more, as long as she can). She will sing songs in the order of popularity **which may change throughout the show as people bid.** Songs will be crossed out on the list after they are performed.
  5. This is a special live event — the archived concert will only be available to Donors’ Circle members.
  6. It’s an all ages show so Marian may spontaneously bleep or rewrite or mess up words.
  7. Marian does not know a lot of these songs, so you will be getting a lot of made up and improvised melodies.
  8. We reserve the right to not approve any particular fan-submitted song, sorry.
  9. If you plan to watch the show on a mobile device/tablet, note that it will be hard to participate in the bidding or the ConcertWindow chat during the show. **Bid ahead of time** on your favorite song(s) here and follow the discussion on Twitter at #LoveandHarmony.
